your hair?
I have had samples sitting in my cosmetic case for like ever and I never use them because it isn't enough for my hair. I can't get the full effect... Do they expect people to just like do strand tests? Why is it that when they have samples of shampoo or conditioner they only give enough to cover a quarter ?
Actually, like everything else in America (food etc), we use (waste) way more than we need. Unless you have hair down to your bottom like me, you only need to use a dollop about the size of a nickle or quarter at the very most. You won't see any difference in the end result using this amount then if you use a ton. You actually don't want to cover your hair because that will not rinse out completely and leave build up in your hair. You use a small amount of shampoo and work it through to the ends. With conditioner you kind of go in the opposite direction applying more at the ends and less at the crown, if any at all. And rinse completely. Another common misconception is that you need tons of lather for the shampoo to be doing it's job, but it's actually the other way around. The more lather you get typically means the more acidic the shampoo is which is more harmful to your hair. It's all about the ph balance. You'll find that many of the more expensive shampoos don't lather near as much as the cheaper drugstore varieties. Lather is for soap, which is not for your hair :) So technically, again unless you have very very long hair, those samples are probably more than enough for one, probably a few uses. Why is it that when they have samples of shampoo or conditioner they only give enough to cover a quarter ?
True, I never understood either. I never thought about the whole strand test thing, but I think you're right.
